Black Mountains Preserves Wins Two Global Bronze Awards in 2022
In their second year of entering the Worldwide Marmalade Awards, Producer Black Mountains Preserves, have once again found success for their Artisan produce, receiving two Global Bronze Awards. Firstly, for their Welsh Gin Marmalade in the ‘with alcohol’ category and secondly for their new spicy savoury Sichuan Marmalade from their Worldwide Collection, in the ‘savoury category’, confirming their jars are some of the best in the world!
The Sichuan Marmalade is particularly loved for its spice hit and the tongue tingling taste sensation, and clearly the judges agreed! They were very impressed with the uniqueness of flavour. Helen also collaborated with local Gin Producer, Black Mountains Botanicals and her Welsh Gin Lemon Marmalade with Black Mountain Botanical Lemon Gin was a real hit in both appearance, colour, consistency, aroma and flavour, creating a double Lemon hit!
Despite the pandemic and global shipping issues, the Marmalade Awards received a record-breaking number of entries this year, with over 3000 jars from more than 30 countries worldwide including Japan, Canada, Australia, Czech Republic, USA and Lebanon. The Artisan jars are judged by an expert panel including food writer Dan Lepard, Fortnum & Mason Grocery Buyer Sarah Metcalf, and David Atherton food writer and winner of The Great British Baked Off 2019 and the accolade that has been awarded denotes a marmalade of exceptional quality.
Owner and artisan marmalade maker Helen says ‘We are delighted to have our efforts in the kitchen rewarded for the second year running and to have won such prestigious awards with both Marmalades we entered. We know that we are against such strong competition from all over the world so we take great pleasure in this award winning news. It is such a privilege to have the Award Roundels to display on our jars to prove how much the judges loved the unique tastes”
As well as online, Black Mountains Preserves’ full range can be sampled and purchased locally at the new monthly Artisan Food & Drink Market in Hay on the first Saturday of the month, and local outlets including The Old Railway Garden, Camden Farm Stores or St Mary’s Bakery.
