Best of Welsh Produce
By invitation from the Secretary of State for Wales, Simon Hart, there was a showcase of the finest of Wales’ produce at Lancaster House London. Helen of Black Mountains Preserves “felt hugely privileged and honoured to be invited and couldn’t believe that her relatively new Artisan Award Winning business was representing Wales at such a prestigious event in stunning surrounding.”
Diplomats, MPs, members of the House of Lords, food sector experts and enthusiasts, journalists from the food and drink sector and friends of Wales enjoyed tasting the very best of Welsh Produce. Helen was delighted to receive such glowing feedback from guests. Head Chef of The River Café, Sian Wyn Owen, after tasting her products said “Wowzers” and her preserves were stunning.
Brigadier Andrew Dawes (CBE) said that “they say the Army marches on it’s stomach and as Head of the Army in Wales I know a little bit about that, and Black Mountains Preserves is the sort of good quality fuel that fuels my sort of Army.”
Simon Hart, Secretary of State for Wales, was delighted to taste stating that tonight is all about the best of Wales and Black Mountains Preserves definitely deserves that accolade. Helen was surrounded with keen tasters and loved receiving the positive feedback, Jo Stevens, MP for Cardiff Central, was so complimentary. Embassies from around the World, including Australia, Belgium and Brazil loved the kaleidoscope of flavours and Taste of Wales offered by Black Mountains Preserves. After tasting, Minister Counselor for Public Affairs, Kathryn Crockart, from the US Embassy is now planning to include Black Mountains Preserves amazing produce at future events.
Helen offered guests a journey through her classic jars to exquisite taste sensations from her World Collection concluding “that the a few of the favourites across the evening were the aromatic Asian Butternut Achar, the sweet and rich Welsh Ale Chutney and the luxury Welsh Whisky Marmalade made with single malt Welsh Whisky, Penderyn”. Stephen Davies of Penderyn “loved tasting his own product in such a quality marmalade and working with a fellow BBNP producer”.
The evening included musical interludes from Award-winning Welsh harpist, Isabel Harries, and mixed four-part choir, Côr Y Boro who brought the evening to a close with a stunning rendition of the Welsh National Anthem.
